Mom's Birthday

It was my mom's birthday at the end of September. I love family get-togethers! We had all the Jenkins and then some of the Willmores.

My mom's gift this year were a bunch of ramekins and a kitchen torch. I'd never had creme brule before! It was amazing! So much so, that Jess and I requested it at our joint birthday party a few weeks later.

 Walter loves Pop pop's "scent den." My dad loves to burn incense--such a hippy. Walter showed me how he helps...he then proceeded to keep heaping rocks on the coal and filled the entire house up with smoke. That's probably really good for the lungs. My dad was really nice about it, he just opened all the windows and made some comment about how mad Krista would be (she hates incense)

 Here's Walter's behavior chart. Every time he does something helpful or nice he gets a sicker. After a certain number of stickers (usually takes him a whole day), he gets a coupon. One coupon equals 30 minutes of TV. After he uses a coupon, he gets to put on a big sticker saying he used it. It's ended up working really well! He looks forward to getting his stickers and is better about helping out. 

 We love it when Krista comes up for visits, even if it means no "scent den."

Fairy-tale Festival

During September, Robyn emailed me and said how there was a fairy tale festival going on over at Center Point Theater. Walter and I went to check it out, and it was awesome! You bought tickets that would pay for what you wanted to do. I paid $11 and we had several hours of fun. It was a really great fundraiser.

The bounce house was probably his favorite. Usually bounce houses are really crowded, but we got there first, so it was just Walter. He loved being able to bounce around without getting knocked over.

 We then went on a Fairy-tale walk where we got to meet some Disney characters! Walter refused to acknowledge any of them for a picture.

 Elsa and Anna--his favorites. We ended up stalking them a little bit. Walter would see them throughout the event and would ask me to follow them around so he could watch them.

 He painted a wand, made a pirate necklace, and got a really cool balloon animal shaped like a dragon. We even got to see a cute little puppet show.

 It was such a cute event! We'll have to go again next year.

After the festival, we went bowling with Levi and Dano. Walter did a good job keeping his face paint on until the very end of the day.

So I went bowling with Levi and Walter, again, this last week, and it's so cute to see how he and Levi have a whole system set up. Levi takes Walter bowling just about every week for "boys' night." As we were walking in, people I'd never seen or heard about were coming up saying hi and giving Walter high fives. He then went and picked out his own ball and took it to the lane. He proceeded to bowl all by himself. When the french fries arrived (because you can't bowl without french fries) he sat up on the big table and made faces with the workers behind the desk. At the end, he helped Levi clean his balls and put everything away. He's starting to act like such a big kid! I'm so glad he has such fun little traditions with his dad.
